KPC’s Second Charity Day:
Humanitarian Gesture for a Worthy Cause
11th June, 2008
In times of need, it is quite gratifying
how KPC rallies together to extend a
helping hand and embody KPC’s big heart.
A recent example was Nafoot’s Second
Charity Day, to raise funds for the aid
of cancer relief endeavours. The Charity
Day was held under the patronage of the
Chief Executive Officer Mr. Saad Al-Shuwaib.

The event was dedicated to the name of
one of KPC’s erstwhile employees Dr.
Mohammad Al-Hadeedi from the Legal
Affairs Department, who lost his life
after a long battle with cancer. Zain
Communications also participated in the
event with a special booth.
The day began at 8 AM, when donations
began trickling in and increased as the
official launch of the event dawned. The
humanitarian event was interspersed with
touching speeches urging the employees
to extend a helping hand, presentations
and a fun auction on selected dishes.
Notably, Hani Abdulaziz Hussain, the
former Chief Executive Officer attended
the Charity Day and bought two of the
dishes at the auction for KD 1000 amidst
the astonishment and admiration of
employees.
Moreover, as part of its ongoing quest
to raise awareness about cancer
prevention, KPC has co-sponsored the CAN
Campaign’s latest media campaign on the
role of physical activity in preventing
cancer.

In a touching gesture of gratitude, the
family of the Legal Affairs, set up a
special table which was decorated with a
green table cloth, adorned with vases of
flowers and was laden with delicious
home made goodies.
To add a more hospitable atmosphere,
fresh Arabic coffee was served to the
guests and prayer books in the name of
Dr. Al-Hadeedi were distributed.
Zain Communication had a distinctive
contribution in the event, golden lines
were sold at special prices and all
proceeds went to the worthy cause.
